Virgo Horoscope: April 2019

In April 2019, the most active areas of life for you, Virgo, will center around dating or relationships; hobbies, creative projects, or children; as well as shared resources with a partner or taxes, insurance, debt, investments, inheritance, retirement planning, etc. On April 2nd, Mercury will conjunct Neptune at 17 degrees Pisces for the third time this year. Because of March’s Mercury retrograde, you would have likely seen the beginning of this transit around February 19th, when Mercury conjoined Neptune for the first time. Then Mercury backtracked during its retrograde and had its second conjunction with Neptune on March 24th. April 2nd is the third pass of this Mercury/Neptune conjunction, so hopefully you’re wrapping up whatever this transit was about for you.

Mercury/Neptune contacts can involve lying, deception, as well as miscommunication or being misinformed. You may have signed a contract or been involved with a business transaction but didn’t have all the facts straight, or they were obscured somehow. Here are some examples of how this could manifest in your 7th house specifically:

  • You or your partner could be making your relationship sound better than it really is.
  •  With Venus in the same sign, indulging in pleasures such as good food, luxurious purchases, or a sparkling vacation may have conjured up rose-colored glasses when it comes to your partner. Perhaps all the bling is blinding you to the lack of emotional support or honesty within your relationship. What’s missing?
  •  A miscommunication with your partner may mean feelings need to be verbally cleared up, making sure that both of you are on the same page.
  •  Are you telling your partner something’s okay when it really isn’t?
  •  In a newer relationship, is one of you idealizing the other and coming on a bit too strong?

At the same time, Mercury/Neptune in Pisces can be decent for artistic pursuits like writing or podcasting, because it can be very inspiring, plus the Moon and Venus are also present in Pisces at this time. Benefic Venus may help navigate any challenging Neptune stuff, and Jupiter is in a good position to do the same. You may feel more poetic or emotional in the way you express yourself.

On April 5th, there’s a New Moon at 15 degrees Aries, and this most likely has to do with the financial realm. Depending on what the issue is, you may want to initiate a new approach to finances in some way. If you’re in debt, this would be a good time to make a plan for how to begin paying it off. Maybe you’ve been thinking about investing for the first time, or mixing it up with some new investments. As it’s tax season in the U.S., there’s a high probability that for many of you, this will be about paying taxes, whether it’s getting them in on time or finding a new accountant or online tax service. Some of you may be retirement planning or dealing with insurance in some capacity.

April 10th is one of the most important days of the month, with more transits than any other. First, Venus conjuncts Neptune at 17 degrees Pisces in your relationship zone. For solid relationships, this could be a romantic transit; doing something that involves the arts with your partner would be a good activity, such as going to the movies, an art museum, or concert, either on the 10th or the weekend before as the aspect is building up. This is not a great day to meet a new romantic prospect however; they may not be what they seem, or you could fall prey to idealizing them a bit more than is warranted.

Meanwhile, Saturn in Capricorn squares the Sun in Aries at 20 degrees on the same day. This is a challenging aspect; Saturn has the upper hand in this configuration, and it’s spending the better part of three years in your house of hobbies, creativity, children, dating, and sex. The fifth house also has to do with gambling, playing the lottery, or activities that involve chance. And no, it’s not a great time to do those things with Saturn present, especially if you were born at night. Here are some ways this could manifest:

  •  Do you have a hobby that’s putting you in debt or causing you to overspend?
  •  Are you spending a lot while dating someone new, or are they spending more than they can afford on you? Trying to make sure financial burdens are met equally between you could be important, because this could cause tension.
  •  On the flip side, do you feel like you’re forced to penny pinch when it comes to hobbies or dating? Perhaps it’s difficult to both do something enjoyable and be fiscally responsible.
  •  If you have children, are you struggling to save for their college education, their health insurance, or some other long-term necessity?
  •  If you’re divorced and have children, issues around what you and your ex are responsible for financially could come up.
  •  Investments could take a nosedive temporarily.

Saturn is also within three degrees of Pluto here, so it could be more ramped up than usual, and both Saturn and the Sun are in very strong positions.

But April 10th isn’t over yet. Jupiter stations retrograde at 24 degrees Sagittarius on the same day. Outer planet retrogrades don’t typically signify any great changes; the main time they’re important is when the planet is stationing retrograde or stationing direct. Jupiter-related topics may become slightly more prominent during the week of April 10th, and it’s in your 4th house of home, parents, family, living situation (including housemates), and city, so if you’ve overextended yourself in one of those areas, it might be wise to pull back a bit and take some time for reflection. With Jupiter in his home sign, it’s a good time to strengthen your relationship with your parents or make any plans you might have regarding the home. If you’re unhappy with a particular living situation (be that the building, the neighborhood, or the people you live with), this is a time to reassess. Retrogrades are typically not about starting something new; it’s better to focus on revising or revamping something. Bottom line is, having benefic Jupiter as a greater presence in the sky during a Sun-Saturn square can only be a positive mitigating factor.

Mercury in Pisces also sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 23 degrees on April 10th, which is a nice aspect for investigative research in general. If you or your partner has kids, you both may end up helping with their homework or making plans for all of you to go to a hands-on museum. It’s a nice aspect to take a deep dive with your partner, having more meaningful conversations. If you’re single, this might be a good time to learn more about a date.

It’s important to remember that not all of these transits will manifest if the planets are not activated as Time Lords right now. Using the annual or monthly profections technique, you can determine which planets are currently turned on in your personal chart, and pay the most attention to them and the houses and signs they rule. Also, you may experience the symbolism of an aspect within a few days to a week before or after the aspect itself, as it’s building up or waning during those times. The third thing to keep in mind is that all of the aspects in the sky interact with your personal birth chart, so there’s an unknown factor that a general horoscope can’t comment on. For that, you’d need an individual consultation to see which transits connect to your birth chart and which will probably pass you by. You’ll likely notice a decent amount of your horoscope occurring, but not everything will happen to you specifically for that reason.

On April 11th or April 12th, depending on your time zone, Jupiter in Sagittarius squares Mercury in Pisces at 24 degrees. The other benefic, Venus, is still co-present with Mercury in Pisces, so on the whole, this should generate an upbeat feeling, even if whatever you’re taking on is a new challenge. This is also the third in a series of Mercury-Jupiter squares: look back to what you were doing around February 22nd, 2019, as well as March 15th. It should be wrapping up, culminating, or presenting an outcome around this time. Potential manifestations for this transit include:

  •  Emotionally bonding with your partner at home in a way that takes your relationship to the next level or invigorates it.
  •  You and your partner spending time with a group of people doing a fun activity in your city and having great conversations.
  •  You and your partner taking a class or learning something new; possibly somebody’s parents teaching you or you teaching your parents or in-laws.
  •  It’s a good time to go on early dates with someone if you’re single, or take a parent to some of the aforementioned activities. Perhaps don’t meet someone potentially important for the first time, though, because the transit that occurs the day after is a doozy.

On April 13th, Pluto in Capricorn squares the Sun in Aries at 23 degrees. Some lingering feelings from the Sun-Saturn square on the 10th may arise again. Do you have some complicated psychological emotions regarding finances? Does spending sometimes feel compulsive? Do you feel like you have control over your own finances? Is providing for your children making it hard to provide any luxuries for yourself? The Pluto-Sun square is only likely to be an issue if the Sun, Mars, or Saturn is turned on as a Time Lord.

On April 14th, Jupiter in Sagittarius trines the Sun in Aries at 24 degrees. This is one of my two favorite aspects of the month. The Sun is exalted in Aries; it feels very provided for. Meanwhile, Jupiter is in one of its home signs, Sagittarius, so it has access to all the resources it needs to lend support to any financial matters you may be having, especially if they’re related to the home, such as paying a mortgage, selling a house, or installing something expensive like a furnace. If you’re one of those people who has the Sun-Saturn and Sun-Pluto square activated in your chart right now, this transit may provide you with a new solution or way out… or at least more energy and drive to work on it, since both Jupiter and the Sun are in Fire signs. If you want to put in an offer on a house or sign a renter’s lease, today’s a good day for that. There’s a slight possibility that a couple of you could receive some news about an inheritance around this time.

My other favorite aspect of the month occurs a day later, on April 15th, when Jupiter in Sagittarius squares Venus in Pisces at 24 degrees. If Venus or Jupiter is a Time Lord for you this year, you’re in luck. This highlights the same areas of life as the Jupiter-Mercury square, and a connection between the two benefic planets can bring positive things in. This is a better day to meet someone new for the first time if you’re dating. Introducing your partner to your parents, or your partner introducing you to their parents, is also likely to go smoothly around this time. If you don’t have a partner, something positive may happen in your parents’ relationship, or anyone you live with who has a significant other.

On April 17th, Mercury ingresses into Aries, your 8th house of shared resources and other people’s money. Mercury can be a bit reckless or impulsive in Aries, so it’s not a great time to make high risk investments. You may get into a debate or argument about financial matters. Mercury is a speedy planet to begin with, and in Aries, the pace ramps up even more. If you can use this drive to accomplish your monetary goals, the transit stands a better chance of manifesting positively.

The Full Moon in Libra at 29 degrees takes place on April 19th in your zone of money, livelihood, possessions, resources, giving and receiving, and the material world. You may experience a culmination in one of these areas of life that began about six months earlier, during a New Moon in Libra around October of 2018. Perhaps you can finally make a big purchase you’ve been saving up for, or you’ve gotten a raise at work.

On April 20th, the Sun ingresses into Taurus and Venus ingresses into Aries. Benefic Venus indicates the chance to smooth over any lingering issues with finances, which has been a huge focus for Virgos this month. If you were born at night, the effect will likely be stronger. Meanwhile, the Sun takes on a slower attitude in the sign of Taurus, which has a very different feel from the go-getter pace of Aries. The Sun is no longer in a sign-based square with bad news bears Saturn and Pluto, and is now highlighting your 9th house of travel, religion, spirituality, occult topics like astrology or mediumship, belief systems, higher education, learning, foreigners, or anything that’s foreign to you. In ancient astrology, the 9th house also represented the God (as opposed to the Goddess) as well as kings or yang/masculine authority.

On April 22nd, the Sun conjuncts Uranus at 2 degrees Taurus, indicating that something new, unusual, exciting, radical, chaotic, disruptive, or unexpected may occur in one of the above areas. If you don’t want this to be an unwelcome surprise, it might be good to cultivate that novelty experience yourself. Here are some suggestions:

  •  Trying a spiritual group or activity that you’ve never tried before.
  •  Taking a spontaneous trip to a place that’s luxurious, foreign, or emphasizes the natural world.
  •  Spending time with someone who’s from a different country or has a very different background from yours.
  •  Go to a restaurant you’ve never been to before, especially if it focuses on the cuisine of another country.
  •  If nothing else, just try something new.

Remember that Uranus will be in Taurus for the next seven years, and this is one of the first conjunctions it experiences since ingressing into Taurus, so whatever happens when the Sun conjoins it may indicate the bigger picture and what you’re headed towards in the next seven years or so.

On April 24th, Pluto stations retrograde at 23 Capricorn, within three degrees of Saturn. If you have children, they may be more volatile or stubborn around this time. They may try to control everything, or struggle with you exercising control. Patience and empathy are important during this Pluto station, since kids and adolescents won’t have as much experience with how to handle Pluto. If you’re dating, jealousy or obsession could arise as potential issues, but it’s probably best to make it about good sex if you’re in a position to do so! This transit will only affect you if Pluto’s activating something in your birth chart, or if Saturn, which rules Capricorn, is a Time Lord for you. It’s more common to see Pluto stations play out in larger society than on an individual level, but if nothing else, it could affect your mood.

We close out the month with a nasty little aspect, Neptune in Pisces squaring Mars in Gemini on April 27th. With Pisces known for not always being clear, and Gemini potentially having a touch of duplicitousness, especially with a malefic present, it only emphasizes Mars and Neptune’s natural significations. Hard aspects between Mars and Neptune have not been pleasant in my experience; they can indicate things like deception, lying, cheating, disillusionment, etc. You may be dealing with loss or separation. It can also feel like you’re trying to run a mile underwater and getting nowhere.

Neptune is visiting your 7th house of relationships (and has been for years), while Mars is visiting your 10th house of career, reputation, and success, as well as occasionally, major life changes. This transit is likely to be rougher on those of you who were born during the day.

  •  You may experience betrayal from a partner or betray a partner.
  •  An action you take at work may affect your reputation or social standing, but only because it was misconstrued.
  •  You may feel like game-playing is going on at work or in a relationship, or you may be the one game-playing.
  •  You may struggle to trust your partner and worry about separation.
  •  The emotions you’re experiencing in your relationship could affect your ability to concentrate or mentally process at work, and it may be harder to get things done quickly.
  •  You may feel disillusioned by your partner or your job.

Best to focus on your job while at work during this period, and do something visually fun with your partner if you’ve escaped disillusionment, such as going to the movies or a film festival, buying an outfit you know they’ll appreciate, or doing a photoshoot together. A unique manifestation of Neptunian illusion is attending a magic show or seeing an illusionist performance. Even a surrealist circus like Cirque de Soleil could be a way of manifesting the symbolism in a wholly positive fashion. Jupiter is in a superior position to both Neptune and Mars, so hopefully that’s enough of a mitigating factor to smooth things over.

Finally, on April 29th, Saturn stations retrograde at 21 degrees Capricorn, within three degrees of Pluto. Around the week of the station, you may experience the same types of emotions that were brought up around April 24th, when Pluto stationed retrograde. This is a pretty intense and heavy week for relationships, with the two retrogrades bookending the Mars-Neptune square. You may feel blocked or like there are temporary obstacles in your path.

Final words of advice: Don’t let your emotions overflow. Do spend some time financial planning, and do question whether your relationship is meeting your needs, or if you can trust and feel secure with that person.
