We all know Sun conjunct Saturn can manifest in a horde of negative ways – which is why I want to focus on some of the positive ones as we begin 2019. This doesn’t void more challenging manifestations, but if you’re looking for self-discipline & long-term goal setting (or just wish you could keep those New Year’s resolutions!), this is your aspect.
Whenever a planet conjuncts the Sun, it begins a new cycle. Think of it like a rebirth for the planet in question. While the Moon is associated with birth, the Sun initiates a *rebirth* of every planet that falls under his beams and emerges anew. And Saturn can get pretty dark & dusty with his taskmaster nature & Eeyore outlook, so a proverbial car wash, purifying his spirit and resolve, can be a much-needed fresh start. It’ll help burn away any fear & doubt, giving you the courage to start something that previously felt uncertain.
Plus, Saturn’s finally at home in Capricorn, able to be his true self without anyone questioning his resting bitch face. This is a great time to plan for the future, whether it’s a new financial endeavor or initiating a project (particularly building, crafting, intellectual pursuits, or starting a business). A few of you (especially Aries & Leo Risings) that already worked hard during the last Saturn cycle may be offered a promotion around this time, therefore starting a new phase in your career, or perhaps you’re beginning a new job.
But in most cases, don’t aim for the spotlight in the Capricorn area of your life right now – your best bet is to work hard behind the scenes, taking at least one small step towards your goal every day, or every week. Saturn’s playing the long game, so temper your energy in favor of endurance.
Committed Responsibility
It’s also a good time to make a commitment to something or someone, as a new cycle is germinating. Most especially, a commitment to yourself or, if you’re in a fatherly role, to your kids. Both Sun & Saturn have father connotations, so implement actions, behaviors, or activities that will tangibly demonstrate the dad you want to be. Or perhaps you’re thinking about someone who played a fatherly role in your life.
Today I watched a friend publicly make a brutally honest (yet eloquent & tactful) post on social media, owning up to his own mistakes and vulnerabilities. It was a courageous & mature thing to do – an interesting manifestation of Sun conjunct Saturn in Cap. He began seeing a therapist this year, & feels lucky he didn’t ruin his long-term friendships. For someone who has been successful & charming, yet often wore a mask with society to uphold his reputation, this was a big admission & surprising growth.
The next time the Sun will conjunct Saturn is notably a day after the exact Saturn/Pluto conjunction of January 2020!
