Mars Retrograde (and Out-of-Bounds) in Aquarius

Mars retrograde is already unique; it only happens once every two years or so. This one is made more volatile with Mars out-of-bounds for most of it (July 7-September 24). The retrograde began on June 26, 2018, 5:04 pm ET, at 9º13′ Aquarius, & stations on August 27, 10:05 am at 28º37′ Capricorn.

Aquarius is a fixed Air sign ruled by Saturn that values progress, efficiency, & innovation. Mars can totally get on board with those things, but when retrograde, both Mars & his ruler may experience rising frustrations/irritations. Mars may want to accomplish Saturn’s goals, yet run into roadblocks, or perhaps he’s feeling rebellious (out-of-bounds ups the chances). Maybe he’s just rejecting Saturn’s taskmaster approach.

You might have similar feelings come up in the area of life your Aquarius house rules, or perhaps you’ll be dealing with a rebel instead. Anger is closer to the surface this summer, & figuring out how you want to handle it ahead of time may be a good strategy. In the heat of the moment, recklessness is possible.

Recognize any obstinacy & stubbornness within, & what changes you might make to lessen those emotions & not let them take hold. Mars in Aquarius retrograde is a boss taking over, desiring to make loads of changes, & then being thwarted by disgruntled employees or tech issues.

Possible significations:

  • sexual frustration
  • trouble manifesting ideas into tangible reality
  • reversals of progress
  • someone changing their mind
  • revising projects already begun
  • reassessing goals/desires
  • less energy
  • chaos instead of order
  • surrender/acceptance

Could inaction be a better answer than action during this time, even if it goes against natural instincts?

Aspects:

  • Mercury in Leo opposite Mars in Aquarius on July 5th
  • Sun in Leo opposite Mars on July 27th
  • Mars square Uranus in Taurus on August 1st
